The original restaurant burned to the ground in 1963 and I remember like it was yesterday. Colonel Sanders visited in the late ‘50s and KFC was featured for awhile in Dutch Pantrys. But the colonel wanted his name above Dutch Pantry in signage and advertising so the deal fell through. My mom washed his shirts during his visit. I thought he was a strange dude back then. joelaubhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17931110998369080134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-411374383982984063.post-18540054282071255292021-06-23T18:10:46.912-04:002021-06-23T18:10:46.912-04:00Thanks for reading and for taking the time to comm...Thanks for reading and for taking the time to comment. It's great to hear from a member of the founders' family! Unfortunately, this Dutch Pantry location closed last year, but there are still two open in Pennsylvania. Have you been to a Dutch Pantry lately? If so, how did it compare to what you remember from before 1968?Zap Actionsdowerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07435622162129525099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-411374383982984063.post-43044303082194235052021-05-15T21:34:11.827-04:002021-05-15T21:34:11.827-04:00I enjoyed reading this article. I miss the one near Harrisburg PA. If memory serves me right it used to be connected near a hotel and I think the hotel is still there, but it's under a new name and had renovations.Big Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06101091073088612273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-411374383982984063.post-79969778199609521052021-02-15T02:00:15.593-05:002021-02-15T02:00:15.593-05:00I remember and miss the dutch pantry in Gettysburg...I remember and miss the dutch pantry in Gettysburg pa..Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07654717126807946471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-411374383982984063.post-18379077947353624732019-01-10T20:18:20.899-05:002019-01-10T20:18:20.899-05:00Thanks for reading and for your kind words.
